Stuart Volunteer Fire Department

The Stuart Volunteer Fire Department responds to emergency calls within the greater Town of Stuart area, and assists with mutual aid calls to help other departments in Patrick County.  We respond to structure fires (homes, businesses, industrial sites), automobile fires, brush & forest fires, and control burns.  We also respond to calls for auto accidents, rescue emergencies, and other situations where life or property may be in danger.

Within the Patrick County Emergency Services organization, we are Company 26.  We are also a member of the Virginia Department of Fire Programs.  The VDFP provides our certified training courses, and keeps track of our emergency responses throughout the year.

Our department is an all-volunteer organization.  This means none of our members are paid for their service.  We currently have 30 members from all walks of life.  From grocery store managers and lawyers, to factory workers, businessmen, and policemen...we all volunteer our time to protect the lives and property of local residents and businesses.

Being a member of our department means more than just responding to emergency calls.  We constantly train to keep our skills current, check local homes and business for fire safety, provide volunteer assistance to other county groups, maintain our equipment, and teach others about the Fire Service.

We're currently working on compiling a complete history of the Stuart Vol. Fire Department.  Please check back as we hope to provide an exciting glimpse into the past.
