TRUCKS & EQUIPMENT
The Stuart Volunteer Fire
Department has some of the most advanced firefighting apparatus available to
the fire service. This equipment is used to save lives, protect property,
and battle fire each time we are called into service.

Our HazMat & Special Operations Unit trailer is
a fully-stocked piece of mobile response equipment that can be brought into
service at a moments’ notice. This
trailer contains special gear and equipment used to respond to Hazardous
Materials incidents and other special emergency situations (such as Confined
Space Rescue; Search & Rescue Operations; or Swift Water Rescue &
Evacuations).

Company 26 is the only Department in our county with a
dedicated unit for such critical incidents.
This trailer can be towed by our Unit 2640 or other SUV or POV in times
of emergency operations. It is housed

Company 26 has many important pieces of
Firefighting equipment to aid our members in combating different types of fire,
rescue, and emergency incidents. Among this equipment is our
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, or SCBA. This gear, similar to that used
by scuba divers, allows Fire Fighters to enter buildings and other environments
where fire, fumes, and heavy smoke are present.

Here is a picture of our gear lockers, where our turnout gear is kept. Turnout gear is the name given to the outfits worn by fire service personnel during emergency operations, including boots, gloves, hoods, and helmets.

Below, are pictures of inside the fire station. We use our computer to determine weather patterns during the dry Fall wildfire season, file our incident reports (NFIRS), and maintain pre-plans for potential fire hazards. Computers are another vital part of fire service equipment, whether they are used in emergency equipment or in the office.

The Stuart Volunteer Fire
Department is very proud of the equipment we have. We take care to
maintain our equipment so that it is ready to be used at a moment's notice to
respond to emergency calls.
